Color Palette
We will take a look at the different sections of the color palette, shown here on the right.
You will see at the top, two squares with an arrow in between them. If you click on the center of either one of the squares, you will be able to select another color, either on the color wheel, or by using the HEX values and typing it into the box labeled HTML code.
The left hand box is for foreground, and the right hand box is for background. You can switch the foreground and background colors by clicking on the arrow in between the boxes. You may also use the rainbow colored section under these boxes to change the foreground and background, by either right clicking or left clicking on the color that you want to use.
Left click will change the foreground, and right click will change the background.
Styles and Textures
Under the rainbow colors on the color palette you will see a section that says Styles. This section offers a lot more options than the other foreground and background boxes on the top of the color palette. On these boxes, foreground is on top and the background is on the bottom, and you can switch them with the arrow in between them boxes, just as you did before. However, do you see the little arrow on the right hand side of each box? When you click on the arrow, you will see this:
You will see four options. The one on the left that looks like a paint brush, is for solid colors. The next one with the vertical lines, if you click on it, will bring up your gradients. You can choose which gradient that you want to use, and flood your selection with it. The next one, that has nine dots on it, is your patterns. You can choose the pattern that you want to use in the same way that you chose the gradients. The fourth section is to turn off your styles.
Under the Styles section, you will see Textures. Most of the time I have this turned off, but if you want to add a little bit of texture to your color, you can select a texture by clicking on the arrow, and browse to the texture that you want.
